Sudden drop in phone scam calls

No Phone Scams

Like so many, my home phone line rings all day long with various telemarketing calls and scams. These calls range from 0% interest on credit cards, warranty expiration on our car, someone died and left us a large sum of money, our social security number has fraudulent activity, I’m sure you have heard these before.

What is interesting is that in the past week, these calls have entirely disappeared. I have not received a single call on my home line. This is the first time in a long time that when my phone rings, it is a person who I want to speak with. Clearly, these world events are impacting everyone. So it got me wondering where could all these calls were coming from and how does that tie into the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

So I started digging around and found an article from last year on USA Today that based on their intel shows that five U.S. states, Costa Rica, Guatemala, India, Mexico, and the appears to show some correlation to the USA Today article. It will be interesting to see how fast they ramp back up once things more back to a more normal way of life.
